What
will you say to all the little ghosts and goblins who will be ringing your doorbell tonight? Do you talk up a storm or do you just thrust candy in their bags and shut the door?
will you say to all the little ghosts and goblins who will be ringing your doorbell tonight? Do you talk up a storm or do you just thrust candy in their bags and shut the door? How we interact with trick or treaters says a lot about us. Here are some ways that people communicate when answering their doors on Halloween night:
1. The strong, silent types--they just distribute the goods, with no words
2. The describers--they tell you what they're doing while they're doing it: "One for you and one for you!"
3. The reporters--they want to know everything: "What are you supposed to be? Where'd you get such a cute hat? Is that a witch I see?"
4. The adults--they only talk to the parents who are accompanying the kids: "That costume must have taken you a long time to make! Wow! Mary, great job! Hi, Sue! Haven't seen you in ages!"
5. The emoters--they really feel Halloween: "Oh, my! You look so frightening! I'm trembling! You really scared me!"
I'm sure you can think of even more ways that people communicate when they answer the door to trick or treaters. Tell me about them!

A Chinese couple up the road once gave our daughter a stock cube because they had no sweets. :)
I guess I'm the "strong, silent type." I hated the creepy old guys who'd talk to me when I was a kid doing the trick or treating and decided I didn't want to be like them.
Bill sits on the porch with the candy ready and hands it out until it's gone except for what he holds back for himself.
He doesn't do much talking and neither do they except prompts from Mom and Dad telling them to say trick or treat and thank-you, he knows they are in a hurry to race to the next house for treats so he doesn't hold them up.
