My dilemma: I love clean showers; I hate to clean the shower. Over the years, I have searched (mostly unsuccessfully) for products that would assist me with this dilemma. Today I want to report on two products that I have used for quite some time and have found to be very helpful in maintaining my ideal spotless shower.
Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner
First, is the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner. If you have never seen one of these little machines at work, you don't know what you are missing. The device hangs over the shower nozzle and has a refillable bottle of cleanser. You press the button on the device and after a 15-second delay (to allow you time to get out of the shower and close the door or pull the curtain), the machine sprays cleaner in a fine mist in every nook and cranny of your shower. I use my SBASC every other day and I can say it does a great job and I no longer have to get on my hands and knees inside the shower and scrub it down from top to bottom (and when you crawl inside the shower stall or tub, it gets dirtier from your feet).
There are some drawbacks with the automatic shower cleaner. Sometimes the button doesn't work and you have to press really, really hard. That may mean that it's time for new batteries (which seem to have to be changed rather frequently for something that only works a matter of seconds several times a week). Also, you have to change the bottle of fluid fairly often, so you need to keep a supply of those on hand. However, I believe, this is all worth it if it means not having to CLEAN A SHOWER! (I really love the TV commercial for this product with those maids inside the shower, even on the ceiling scrubbing away!).
Hookless Shower Curtain
Second, is the hookless shower curtain. I have always had a shower/tub combination, so this doesn't apply to those who have an enclosed shower. Typically, I would get an attractive shower curtain that was made of fabric which would hang on the outside of the tub and a plain shower liner that would hang on the inside of the tub. I used plastic shower hooks rather than metal because there was less rust. Even so, the liners got moldy quickly and I replaced shower liners extremely often (which is much easier and quicker than cleaning them). But it was still awkward, with the curtain, the liner, and the hooks!
Enter the hookless shower curtain. I discovered this at a hotel and fell in love. This is a shower curtain with the hooks built (sewn?) in to the top of the shower curtain. The curtain itself is made of a cloth that is water resistant, but not plastic so it breathes. The one I have now I have had for about a year and no sign of mold or mildew. It dries extremely quickly and is very airy with a portion near the top that is like net.
If you are like me and love clean showers but hate to clean them, I advise you give my two suggestions a try. Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner will make regular shower cleaning a breeze and a hookless shower curtain will help keep your shower fresh and mold-free.

I am so glad you mentioned the scrubbing bubbles thing. I have been wanting to try it, but wasn't sure if it worked. No one I know had ever tried it. But now you have! (thanks for being my guinea pig)
Mr Clean spray cleaner in a pink and purple tiger patterned bottle also does wonders in the shower. We have a well with lots of iron so it colors pretty quickly and that stuff is amazing.
Hi, I have nominated you for a Brillante Weblog Premio 2008 Award. This was given to me and I was told I need to select some blogs that I think are great and nominate them. I chose yours as one of them because I read your blog all the time and really enjoy it. You can visit my site to retrieve it. Thanks!
peace,

I'm going to have to try both the cleaner and the shower curtain. I too love a clean shower but hate cleaning it. Thanks!
